Can Tiger win his 1st major the 2010 US Open?

Tiger Woods has submitted his application form for the 2010 US Open to be held at Pebble Beach in June. He submitted his application form on the Monday following he finished fourth at the Masters. It was his first major tournament since choosing a break from golf to work on his relationship. It was a solid finish although he expected he had been the one putting on the green coat as opposed to Phil.

For anyone who is interested, all qualified players (even Tiger woods) will have to send their application form for the US Open by April 28th in order to be entered into the competition.

In 2000, Tiger woods tied the PGA scoring record by finishing an amazing 15 strokes under the closest competitor. He obviously would really like a repeat of his win however anything in the best five is really a true win for him after his five month rest from the world of playing golf.

Tiger has never been more in the spot light. It ended up being all he could do to muster a smile after the 4th place finish at Augusta. The problem is that golf is largely played out between your ears and in Tiger’s case, we all have no clue what mentality he could be in lately. Of course he will have good and bad days. Eventually he will win one more major and the world can ignore his personal story while keeping focused on Tiger’s golf game.

Would You Do This for $100k?

Here’s an interesting money-making opportunity. The summary:

[Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie] Gossage offered the host of a Dallas country music station $100,000 to change his name to TexasMotorSpeedway.com for one year and get a permanent TMS tattoo. Terry Dorsey, a DJ on 96.3 KSCS, has exactly 24 hours to make the decision.

So here’s my question: would you take this deal? (Or even a similar one — would you change your name for a year and get a tattoo for $100k?)

Personally, I wouldn’t. I’d do the name change, but not the tattoo (unless it was small and in a hidden place.)

BTW, I’m thinking of offering Barak Obama, Brad Pitt, or Tiger Woods $100k to change their name to FreeMoneyFinance.com. Think any of them would take it? ;-)

We Declare War On Crappy Comments!

Braveheart

We are are thrilled to have such a smart, vocal, and engaged community at Business Insider.  We’re also sick of wading through dozens of dreck comments to find the funny, valuable ones.

So we’re declaring war on crappy comments!

Henceforth, we are booting to “The Bleachers” all comments that we aren’t glad we took the time to read.  This includes:

  • Off-topic rants
  • Gratuitous personal attacks on us or other readers (especially if not funny)
  • Stupid, unhelpful, un-funny and/or uninteresting remarks

Importantly, the comments we LIKE aren’t just long essays on the topic at hand.  They include short, funny asides, intelligent disses, and clever remarks.  But the rest are getting tossed.

We have also been appalled to see some hate-speech in the comments from time to time.  We now have an “offensive” flag to help you alert us to this, and we would be grateful if you would use it.  We’re going to have a zero tolerance policy on this.  If we decide your comment is racist, religion-ist, or loathesome in some other way, we’re going to delete the comment and BAN YOUR IP.

We will lightly moderate comments for several hours after we publish a post.  After that, we’ll leave it to our readers to let us know when morons or haters descend.  This will very much be a community project, so we’re grateful in advance for your help.

Thanks!

Tiger’s run at The Masters tournament 2010 (Round 2, Pt. 2)

A noticeable lack of birdies may have Tiger Woods a bit concerned after the second round of The Masters tournament 2010.

Fans of Tiger Woods and The Masters tournament 2010 are in the right place. Here is the continuation of Tiger Woods’ run through the course in round 2: the back nine. CLICK HERE if you missed his performance on the opening nine holes and want to know whether you’ll need payday loans to repay any friendly but ill-advised wagers.

Tiger Woods at The Masters Tournament 2010: the back nine

  1. Hole No. 10 – Par for the course on this 495-yard par 4 to start the back nine of The Masters tournament 2010. This time the drive was right, but Tiger Woods’ foot slipped on the approach. Score: 4-under, two back.
  2. Hole No. 11 – A big par 4 at 505 yards gave Tiger the opportunity to gain on the leaders, but he parred again as the breeze knocked his approach down too soon. Score: 4-under, four shots behind new leader Lee Westwood.
  3. Hole No. 12 – Continuing to idle at par on this 155-yard par 3. Tiger’s tee shot spun off the putting surface, requiring a two-putt. Score: 4-under, four back.
  4. Hole No. 13 – A birdie on this 510-yard par 5 brought Tiger back to 5-under, three shots behind new leader Ian Poulter.
  5. Hole No. 14 – Par for Tiger on this 440-yard par 4. The greens appear tough this year, and once again Tiger’s approach trickled downhill and into the fringe. Score: 5-under, four behind new leader Westwood.
  6. Hole No. 15 – It was birdie time on this 530-yard par 5. A fine pitch and putt positioned Tiger at 6-under, three behind Poulter and Westwood.
  7. Hole No. 16 – While Tiger had a birdie chance after his tee shot on this 170-yard par 3, he misread the break as his first putt sailed left. 6-under, three back.
  8. Hole No. 17 – Tiger drove into the trees, which put him behind the proverbial eight ball. But once he skied his approach to within six feet of the flagstick, Tiger was able to get way with par on this 440-yards par 4. 6-under, three back of Westwood.
  9. Hole No. 18 – Tiger came up short of the green when he needed to stick in position for a short putt. Thus, he parred this 465-yard par 4 and ended round two of The Masters tournament 2010 6-under (138 shots), two behind Poulter and Westwood at the time. Who would have thought somebody whose name resembles poultry would be leading The Masters? Nobody who has ever used a no fax payday loan, that’s for sure. They’re like the people who stay at Holiday Inn Express!
